James M. Rossetti Jr., 72, of Apollo, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025. James was born in Pittsburgh on May 26, 1953, to James and Mary (Viggiano) Rossetti. Growing up in Chalfant Borough, he spent his youth playing with friends, enjoying time with family, and vacationing along the New Jersey Shore. It was during these formative years of his life that he learned the values and lessons that would become the hallmark of his character. James attended St. Maurice Catholic School and graduated from Churchill. After school, he went to work at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh, where he worked across various progressive roles, even helping to build the generators that powered the Coulee Dam in Washington. He retired from National Roll after working there 26 years. During this time, he married his wife Bonnie in 1974 and had two children, James and Justin. As a family they were inseparable, spending time together picnicking, traveling, camping, and vacationing up and down the Eastern Seaboard, from New Jersey to Florida. A loving and devoted husband, he adored his wife through the trials and tribulations of their lives but always ensured she remained happy. A loving and active father, he routinely stepped up to help with his son's activities, including scouting, sports, band, and education, becoming a welcome and vocal presence in the stands, on the sidelines, and meetings. A caring and loving grandfather, he adored his grandchildren and did his best to be there with them whenever the opportunity allowed. James was a phenomenal storyteller, a voracious reader, and loved classical rock music, history, the outdoors, and exploring the world around him. He will be remembered for many things, including his strength, humility, patience, kindness, joy, courage, and the calm and perspective he brought to every situation. Most of all, he will be remembered for his glorious mustache. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary; as well as his brother, Edward. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, James (Heather) and Justin (Michael); his grandchildren, Vincent and Lucia Rossetti; and his sister, LaVerne Hunt. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, at VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Dr., (724-468-1177). A Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at St. John Baptist de La Salle Church, Delmont, followed by a committal service at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
