James "Jamie" D. Russian, 68, of Pittsburg, passed away at 12:47 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburg with his sisters by his side.

He was born October 16, 1957 in Pittsburg, the son of James Paul and Johnna Lou (Gilbert) Russian. He attended St. Mary's Colgan and graduated from the PSU Vo-Tech School of Welding, where he was acknowledged and honored for his craftsmanship.

Jamie worked for Jim Askins Construction during the construction of Rouse Street, then for Carl Tripp Concrete Construction, where he learned and mastered the concrete trade. In 1990, he started his own construction company, Russian Concrete, building basements, stem walls, and flat work.

In 1994, he married Holly Macauley. To this union, three daughters were born. They later divorced.

Jamie developed the housing addition, Setter's Point, east of Pittsburg on Quincy Street. He loved training bird dogs and was an avid quail hunter. If you were around Jamie very long, he would give you a nickname, which many of his family and friends are still referred to. His sharp wit and humor were also one of his trademarks, even up until his final days.

Survivors include his mother, Johnna Russian; siblings, Carol Jameson, Mark Russian (Tammy), Lisa Jordan, and Robert Russian (Susan), and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim and a brother, Dennis Russian.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 4th at Brenner Mortuary. A private family burial will take place later in the Highland Park Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to SEK Animal Advocates &/or Pawprints on the Heartland. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St, Pittsburg, KS 66762. Online condolences may be left at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
