LIMA - James "Jim" William Sarchet, 76, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center.
Jim was born on May 1, 1949, in Cambridge, Ohio, to William & Helen (Smith) Sarchet. On March 9, 1985, he married his beloved, Rebecca (Sprague) Sarchet, who survives in Lima.
Jim worked in hardware and retired from Walmart in Wapakoneta after 13 years. He was a handyman, who could fix anything. He was a train enthusiast, and enjoyed going on train rides, sharing his love of trains with his family. He had a large train layout that he operated. Jim was a big fan of OSU, especially their football team. Jim was a member of The Church at Allentown and was formerly a member of Grace United Methodist and Shawnee United Methodist churches. He faithfully would watch church on TV when his illness kept him from going in person. He loved his dogs, Rocky and Coco; especially Rockey who would always sit with him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Amanda (Jeremy Pierce) Klinger and Emily Sarchet; grandchildren: Raelynn, Adilynn, Brantley, Landon, and Korie; in-laws, Kevin (Alana) Sprague and Laurin (Lisa) Sprague; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Rae Sarchet
A Celebration of Life will be held at Memorial Park Mausoleum on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Neil Whitney will officiate. In honor of his love of football and trains, the family requests that celebrants wear OSU or something train related. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Church at Allentown. Arrangements handled by Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home.
