"Uncle", my dearest uncle. It has been one month since you left us, and I still can't believe it. How can you be gone? How can I never hear your laugh again? How can we have another holiday without you? You were such an important part of our family. Tonight Aaron mentioned again how you won't be here to teach him to swim and it just broke my heart. Adam and Aaron adored you. Uncle Jimmy, I love and miss you so much. You were one of a kind and will never ever be forgotten. Every time I turn I around I see or hear something that reminds me of you. I am so grateful for all the wonderful memories I have from 179. Those memories will keep you alive in my heart forever...xoxoxoxo Sheri

Our last birthday together

Mary Beth Nichols

April 6, 2012

I was 4 years old the day before you were born. Mom was having a birthday party for me, even though she was in early labor. She told me that I said, "Don't have the baby today~ this is MY birthday!!". Being the wonderful, obliging person she was, she had you the following day. Imagine how she felt to see that she finally had the son she always wanted after four girls! She adored you Jimmy, as you did her.
Life without you is never going to be the same. How can we have our "Pizza Parties" with Adam & Aaron without their Uncle Jimmy? Just the look on their faces when you came through the door was priceless.
My brother, even though my heart is broken, I know someday I will be with you in heaven.
Love forever, Mary Beth XOXOXO

Although I left Buffalo before the age of two, I've always considered it home. I could never imagine that I would get the call to come "home" to say goodbye to my one and only "Uncle Jimmy". Jimmy could always bring a smile to my face and was one of the funniest, animmated and best story teller that I've ever known. I loved to watch him tell stories of different things that would happen at work or when he was out on the town. He was a son who was adored by his mother and in her eyes could do no wrong. I don't know of another man who would do things for his mother as Jimmy did for his, so thank you Jim my for always taking care of our "Nana". I take great comfort in knowing Jimmy is back in Nana's loving arms. Thank you to all of his friends for being there for him and especially for helping our family during this difficult time. Jimmy, we will love and miss you always. Until we meet again. Love, Terry, Gerry, Jason, Marissa and Samantha

Uncle Jim, you knew exactly how to put a smile on my face every time i saw you, you brightened the room just walking in. Sixteen years was not a long enough time for your to be in my life, but you will always be in my heart Love you always

April 2, 2012

I've known Jim for over 45 years. I met Jim through his cousin Tim, who used to work at Max's Mobile gas station. I got talking to him about Swimming, Tennis, Bicycles, & different techniques of riding in the city traffic. Then he found out that I managed many different bike shops. Afterwards I became his bike mechanic for life (he would introduce me to other people as that). I got him into not just having one bike to depend on but several (In case he had to go to work & realized that he had a flat. Then he could quick grab another one, depending on which one had the flat (Summer, Winter, City, etc. bikes), & still not be late for work.)
Over the years, I got to meet many of his friends & family who were all interesting & fun to talk to. Jim was a good person in all ways. Though he never married, he was an excellent family man. Going in bus rides to games with his dad, taking lunch to his mom, & visiting her on a regular bases. Many times we went out to lunch & he would tease me on the way that I spoke on the phone. It was OK, because he knew & accepted people as, “Jim is Jim & Jeff is Jeff”. I remember one time when Sony R. Jim & I went out for a bike ride on the Canadian side from the Peace Bridge up to NF. Back then, we cursed at an average of 15 mph, peddled around (up Clifton Hill, the Flower Clock, & kept on going to Niagara on the Lake), & back home. This was why it was such a shock to hear of Jim's death, because he was so physical in the aerobic way. I'm just so glad that the last time I did see him was to drive him out to visit or friend Bev, & talk about all the funny things we use to do with other friends & all the good times that were had. He's now in my prayers, along with his mom & dad, my parents, family, & friends that we've know in our past life. God bless you, Jim!
- Jeff Kramer (his friend & bike mechanic)

The day you left us was undoubtedly the worst day of my life.I won't try and eulogize you Jim because everyone that knew you knew the kind of person you were.I am trying to find solace in all of the wonderful memories.....catching snakes,building forts and shooting bow and arrows together( I think that sometimes I tried to be the brother you didn't have).I remember our silly little game of trying to see who could make the other one laugh first,you won that one hands down.All the countless swim meets from the YMCA to Riverside Hs and on to Buff. State,you were my star. The concerts we went to from Alice Cooper to Zeppelin,you always loved your music.Weekends were always a good time when you stayed over whether it was hanging out with friends or playing with my boy's.I'll never foget our last trip together to see Mom when she was staying with Karen & Bill in Connecticut,how many other brothers would hand feed their sister strawberries dipped in whip cream while she was driving...only you Jim. A Reminiscence

YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.

Most days when I would come to work I would see you in the parking lot. You could have been at the farthest end of the lot and talking to someone, nevertheless you always waved to me or shouted out a comment about the day or the weather. We always knew who it was coming into our office because the door would swing wide open and you would be halfway across the room talking and joking with us before we even knew what was happening! You would get your work done, make us laugh and leave. We will miss you so much Jim. This Community Center has lost a very important person. Rest in peace Jim, rest in peace.
