James E. Smith

SMITH, James E., entered eternal rest on August 28, 2009 in Richmond, Va. He was born to the late Hoskin and Dillie Ann Smith in Mecklenburg County on November 20, 1954. An employee for over 20 years of Abilene Motor Express as a truck driver, James leaves two children, James Towns (Cathy) and Jevette Smith; grandchildren, Raymond, Ricardo and Jalene Towns, Jaesen and Jada Smith; four sisters, Dorothy, Alice, Pandora and Clarissa; one brother, Harold; uncles and aunts, James, Leon, Curtis, Sterling, Carl, Walter, Lorraine, Mildred and Mary Ann; devoted friend, Diane Cooper; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave., where the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Watkins Community Chapel, 2701 Garland Avenue, on Thursday September 3, at 2 p.m. Interment Riverview Cemetery.
