James "Jim" Frederick Smith II, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 28, 2024, at his home in Naples, Florida. He was born on August 28, 1946, in Lafayette, Indiana to James and Margaret (Bradley) Smith.
A proud graduate of Purdue University, Jim embarked on a successful career at TRW, where he held increasingly significant roles. His dedication and hard work culminated in his retirement as President and CEO of Occupant Safety Systems within TRW.
Jim was an avid member of the Eagle Creek Golf and Country Club, where he formed lasting friendships and shared countless memories. In retirement, Jim enjoyed playing golf, boating, fishing, grilling, and cruising in his Porsche. Above all, Jim loved spending time with his beloved family.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughters Michelle (Wes) Goodman and Jennifer (John) Gipson, and granddaughters Paige, Devyn, and Sydney Goodman, Haiven and Saige Gipson, and Bailey Spitznagle. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Smith. Jim will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church, 475 Ninth Avenue South, Naples Florida April 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Eagle Creek Golf and Country Club,11 Cypress View Drive, Naples, FL 34113.
