James Brian Smith, lovingly known as Brian, 54, of Dacula, GA, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025. Brian’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted father to his two children, Aleah Smith (23) and Brady Smith (19), of Dacula, GA, who were the light of his life. His love for them was unwavering, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Brian also shared a special bond with Carey Sellers Smith, the mother of his children, and together they worked to raise their children with love, pride, and dedication.

Brian was the beloved son of James and Connie Smith of Good Hope, GA, and leaves behind his two sisters, Amy Smith of Social Circle, GA, and Keri Smith Brooks (Kevin) of Athens, GA. He was a cherished uncle to his nephew, Conrad Brooks of Athens, and is survived by countless extended family members across Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Alabama, and California. He also leaves behind a circle of dear friends who were like family to him.

Brian found peace and joy in nature. His spirit of adventure was matched only by his incredible ability to connect with others. Brian never met a stranger and had a servant’s heart, always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer a kind word. Whether in the company of loved ones or strangers, Brian made everyone feel seen, heard, and valued.

A skilled and hardworking commercial truck driver, Brian spent much of his career at Coca-Cola. He was a proud graduate of South Gwinnett High School and attended Dekalb College.

Beyond his work and family, Brian’s heart was full of passions that brought him joy—his mischievous sense of humor, his love for music, and his lifelong devotion to the Georgia Bulldogs (“Go Dawgs!”) and the Atlanta Braves. His love for the Braves was passed down by his late Mamaw, Eileen Anderson, who never missed a game.

Brian’s kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A private graveside ceremony will be held at Harmony Baptist Church, followed by a Celebration of Life where friends and family are invited to honor and celebrate Brian’s life on Monday, Feb 17th, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 at Heartland Farms, 4720 Jacks Creek Road Northwest, Monroe, GA 30655.

In the spirit of Brian’s joyful personality, we invite you to dress in bright, uplifting colors as we come together to honor his memory.
