James Dwight "Jim" Smith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed from this life on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on September 18, 1957, in Kennett, Missouri, he later made his home in Paragould. Jim's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering spirit.

A proud graduate of Holcomb High School in 1975, Jim later attended Three Rivers College for a brief period. He initially embarked on a career as a farmer before making the transition to become a respected truck driver. Throughout his driving career, Jim earned recognition for achieving over one million miles of safe driving. Upon retiring from the open road, he took on the role of operations manager for Marc Hoskins Trucking, where he was known for his commitment and leadership.

Jim was a devoted member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, where he found comfort and community. His love for life extended beyond his work; he had a passion for collecting die-cast John Deere tractors, enjoyed motorcycle riding, and treasured frequent trips to flea markets and antique shops with his beloved wife, Tammy. His greatest joy came from his role as a husband, father, and "PawPaw" to his grandchildren-a title he cherished above all.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Tammy Smith; his daughter, Allison (Jason) Brooks; his sons, Jeremy Smith and Robert Martin; his grandchildren, Raquel (Shawn) Brunelle, Kynnedy Martin, Samuel Brooks, and baby sister Brooks; his adored great-grandchildren, Brynleigh, Sawyer, and Paislee Brunelle; his brothers, Charles (Melinda) Smith and Scott (Jennifer) Smith; his sister, Shirley (Stephen) Bradshaw; bonus kids, Mark and Carrie Tuttle and BJ and Heather Thompson; and many nephews and nieces. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Ulysses Smith; mother and step-father, Gladys and Eugene Grissom; grandson, Evan Martin; brother, Donnie Smith; and sisters, Mary Morrow, Eulla Fern Smith, and Glenda Brooks.

The family invites all who knew and loved Jim to join them in celebrating his life. Funeral services will be held at Beech Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, January 31, 2026. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, leading into the funeral service at 11:30 AM with Bro. Dave White and Bro. Kim Hellebusch officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Beech Grove Baptist Church Kitchen Fund, 2501 Linwood Dr, Paragould, AR 72450, in memory of Jim, reflecting his love for family and community. He will be greatly missed but remembered for the love he shared and the legacy he leaves behind. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so willingly gave.
