James F. Southmayd, 64, of Wakefield passed away at the Winchester Hospital Thursday March 19.


Born in Cambridge on September 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Arthur M. and Lillian (Sheehan) Southmayd.

Mr. Southmayd was raised in Wilmington and was a graduate of Wilmington High School, class of 1962. He had served in the U.S. Army during the VietNam era and had been a Wakefield resident for 40 years. A retiree from the SCI Corp. formerly of Wilmington James enjoyed camping and the outdoors.

Mr. Southmayd was the husband of Jeanne I. (Evangelista). He was the father of James M. Southmayd of Wakefield and Karen J. Southmayd of Boston. He was the brother of Charles & Thomas Southmayd of Wilmington, Clifford Southmayd of Stoneham, Claire Connolly of NC Janice Brabant of CO and the late Arthur Southmayd and Merrilyn Corcoran. Mr. Southmayd is also survived by his Aunt Phyllis Evangelista of Wakefield and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Monday at 9 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church 47 Butler Ave.Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 – 4 P.M.

Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
