Obituary of James "Jim" O. Spears
James 'Jim' O. Spears, 85, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 22, 2022, at his home in Greeley.
Jim was born in Mississippi on September 21, 1936, moved to Springfield Massachusetts where he resided for many years, finally settling in Greeley, Colorado. Jim was a CDL certified truck driver for most of his life. He worked for many companies in his lifetime including Monfort Meat Packing company, and then TimberRock Landscape Center in Windsor, CO, for 17 years.
Jim was a fun-loving man and loved to joke around with everyone; it was his trademark. He loved to drive his semi-truck, A Peterbilt... his favorite. He was proud to inform you that he had driven in every state in the USA!
He liked his steak well, well, well done, and no waitress ever escaped his teasing. You would always see him in a denim long sleeved shirt, with his Dickies jeans, and a Peterbilt baseball cap.
He loved his McDonalds Quarter pounder and a nice "non fancy" cup of coffee.
You would most likely see him at The Evans CO truck stop visiting with many of his friends.
He was a loyal, private, loving hardworking man. He will be greatly missed by all, Rest in Peace Jim.
Jim is survived by his younger brother Freddie Braddock of Corinth, Mississippi; a sister, Hattie Powell of Mississippi; 5 children, numerous grandchildren, and many friends in lots of places.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Braddock, of Ripley, Mississippi; and one of his sons, Michael Spears of Springfield, Massachusetts.
A Celebration of Life will be at 3:00pm on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Northern Colorado Crematory, Community Room, at 700 8 Street, Greeley, CO 80631, with a gathering immediately following at The Rio Grande Restaurant @ 825 9 Street in Greeley, CO 80631.
