James Douglas Spencer, affectionately known as Jim, passed away on September 3, 2025, in Schertz, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on January 15, 1943, in LaGrange, Kentucky, Jim's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, hard work, and a spirit that positively touched everyone around him.

Jim served his country with honor in the United States Army, retiring as a Sergeant Major after an impressive 28 and a half years of dedicated service. His military career, which he began in 1960, fostered in him a deep sense of discipline and dedication, values he carried into every aspect of his life. Jim's life lessons often revolved around the importance of hard work and perseverance, strongly believing that "hard work and dedication will get you far."

Jim's educational pursuits led him to earn a Master of Arts from Central Michigan University, further showcasing his commitment to personal growth and lifelong learning.

Jim's passions extended beyond his military and academic pursuits; he loved hunting and fishing, and embracing the great outdoors. Jim also enjoyed family trips to the beach, and to Las Vegas. Moreover, he also enjoyed returning home to Kentucky.

His enthusiasm for life was matched only by his political convictions, as a devoted supporter of Donald J. Trump, reflecting his strong beliefs and commitment to his values.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Spencer, with whom he joyfully celebrated many years of marriage since 1963. He is also survived by his sons, Brandon and his wife Deanna Spencer, Chris and his wife April Spencer, who will carry on his legacy with deep love and admiration. His grandchildren, Logan Spencer, Presley Spencer, and Ryan Spencer will forever remember their Grandfather as a guiding light, sharing the warmth, humor, and wisdom he imparted.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Robert and Nannie Spencer, who instilled in him the values that shaped the great man he became.

James Douglas Spencer will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his commitment to serving others, and the laughter and lessons he brought to every life he touched.
