We met Spanky at the Yellow Rose close to 30 years ago when we were first married. We shared many laughs over the years, and got to know Betty and Jamie as well. Spanky had a magical talent of making you feel like you were the one person he had been waiting to see every time you ran into him. He made everyone he knew feel special, and we loved him for it.
As time went on and we had three children, Bob would see Spanky on occasion, but I probably went for 10 years without seeing him. When I walked into the Yellow Rose after all that time, Spanky made me feel like I made his year coming in to see him.
Spanky was extraordinary in many ways-his "people skills," his quick wit, his natural ability to draw anyone and everyone into his circle, and his kindness touched many, many people. We will never forget Spanky and his bigger than life personality.
Love and sympathy to Betty, Jamie, Justin and the rest of the family.

I will always have such wonderful memories of Spanky and the Yellow Rose. What a host he was! Our neighborhood crowd of 12 or more would be there every Friday night. My prayers go out to his family and all the dear friends that loved him.

I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with Mr. Sprowles during my teens and twenties. A true one of one, always there for a quick joke and a helping hand. It really was a wonderful world because you were in it. Love and light to Betty, Jaime, and Justin.
