Ocala - James Stanley "Nidge" Johnson, 72, passed away November 10, 2021. He was born October 25, 1949 in Annapolis, Maryland, to the late James Henry Johnson and Barbara Ruth Carrick Johnson. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired as a Supervisor from Verizon and later Pastoring at Anthony First Baptist Church.
Jim had a great love for music, enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, was an avid Beatles fan. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Oak Run Motorcycle Club. He was very active in his ministry, the Good News Club, Marion Baptist Association, Vacation Bible School, and any other place he was needed. For those who knew him he was a great teaser.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Penny and Teresa Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Pamela Ann Johnson; daughter, Amiee Quiles (Michael); brothers, Chuck Johnson (Peggy), Craig Johnson (Pam); sister, Ginger Weasenforth (Charlie); granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Brooke Warren and grandson, Landon Quiles.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, FL. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Anthony with Pastor Samuel Clements officiating. Luncheon will follow the service, and interment with Military Honors will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of James to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, PO Box 8190, Lakeland, FL 33802.
