James Elmer Stein II (Standish)

James Elmer Stein II (Jim), age 72 years, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 22nd, 2026. He was the son of the late James Elmer and Patricia Ann (Reno) Stein. Jim was born on May 23, 1953, in Bay City, MI.

James graduated from Saginaw Valley State College in December 1975 with Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. A year later, in 1976, he married Sandra Lee Leavitt.

In September 1977 Jim became a certified public accountant and shortly thereafter moved his family to Standish to start his accounting career. He was devoted to serving his clients in the Standish area community for nearly fifty years.

He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Surviving him are his Daughter: Christine (Brady) Walker of Standish; Sons: Brian (Jessica) Stein of Bay City, James E. Stein III of Standish, Grant (Kaylee) Schutte of Freeland; seven grandchildren: Tyler (Jordan), Ashton, Ava, Addison, Ella, Asher, Cole; three great grandchildren: Sawyer, Henry, Alice.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents: James E. Stein and Patricia.

Per Jim's request, a cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at Lee Ramsay Funeral Home in Standish, MI on Monday, March 2nd from 4-6pm, with service to being at 5pm.
