James Alfred Sterling

James Alfred Sterling, 86, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, after a long fight with heart disease. James was born on February 24, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was employed by General Motors Powertrain and retired after 37 years. Jim enjoyed scuba diving, boating, piloting small planes along with many other interests and hobbies.

James is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy"; children, Alan (Lea) Sterling, Shawn (Lina) Sterling; grandchildren, Alisha Scholz, James Sterling; and great-grandson, Seth Scholz. James was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Maynard Sterling; sisters, Colleen Ruziscka, Shirley Sterling, Sharon Ramirez; and great-granddaughter, Kaylei Scholz.

Per his request there will be no formal services. Professional services were provided by Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, Ohio. Online condolences to

So sorry for your loss Peggy, So many great memories we have shared with you both. Jim will be missed and never forgotten, always had a great time when we had our adventures diving or just a visit. Now he is up in Heaven swapping dive stories with Ernie.
