James G. (Jim) Stoutzenberger of Columbia, PA, passed away on November 22, 2025, surrounded by family at the age of 73. Jim was the son of the late Richard R. and Elizabeth C. Stoutzenberger (Buzzendore). He is survived by two sisters, Mary Hicks (Earl, deceased), and Ann Potts (David), both of East Petersburg, and three brothers: Richard (Sharon) of North Smithfield, RI, Joseph (Mary) of Erdenheim, PA, and Stephen of Mountville. He also has many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces.

Jim attended St. Peter's Grade School in Columbia, Lancaster Catholic High School, and Millersville University, attaining a BS degree in mathematics in 1977. From 1970 to 1973, he was a Vista Volunteer, working at the Lancaster County Community Action Program. He dedicated much of his life to teaching math at York Catholic High School, and chaired the department for four years. He also coached the JV girls' basketball team for many years. He retired in 2012 after thirty-four years of teaching. Jim's teaching career ended when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease that led him to reside at St. Anne's Nursing Home in Columbia. The York Catholic community continued to be his second family even after retirement, especially his fellow teachers Paige and Ro.

Jim was passionate about his particular interests, such as musicians John Prine and Van Morrison, movies, the tv series "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer," and the Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially when it involved his favorite food, pizza, and playing trivia. He was a great story teller, especially about growing up in Columbia and about students he had taught, sometimes years before. He was a good listener, and many people looked to him for sound advice.

Jim is grateful for the care and attention he received from the staff at St. Anne's through the many years he resided there.

Visitation will take place from 9:00-10:00 AM Saturday, November 29, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 121 South Second Street, Columbia, PA, 17512, followed by Mass at 10:00. Burial will follow in Mount Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be sent to York Catholic High School, 601 Springettsbury Avenue, York, PA, 17403.
