James (Jim) Ernest Sutton was born October 1, 1936 in Huron SD to Alfred Sutton and Marie (Younkton) Sutton. He attended school in nearby Wessington, SD until he enlisted in the Army, where he served during 1954-58, including a stint in England.
Jim had many passions in his life. It could be said he was often busy starting new projects when he ought to have been finishing the last. He was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, you just had to ask. But perhaps his one constant was that as a truckdriver. He traveled all over the United States and even late in his years, he kept talking about how he could return to driving.
Jim passed away January 21st, 2025 and will be missed, and leaves behind stepdaughter, Amy Gilbert and family, son, William and wife, Michelle, daughters: Cheryl and Lynn, sisters: Lois and Dorothy, several grandchildren; great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved, Susan Bolyard Sutton; his parents, Alfred and Marie; brothers: John and Charlie; sisters: Fawniel and Helen; niece, Ramona, and nephew, Donald.
