James E. Tennis, 79, of Dummer, passed away on Wednesday May 21, 2025 at his home. He was born in Berlin on April 22, 1946 the son of the late Carl and Maxine (Gendron) Tennis and lived most of his life in the area. He attended school in Berlin and was a US Navy Veteran. James had been employed by the State of NH Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATV riding, snowmobiling and was a member of the Presidential OHRV Club, the White Mountain Ridge Runners, and the Silver Riders ATV and Snowmobile Clubs. He enjoyed time spent running rabbits with his beloved dog, Toby.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda M. (Holt) Tennis of Dummer, NH; children Jesse Tennis and wife Bonni of Center Conway, NH, Jeff Tennis and wife Vicki of Gorham, NH, and Mindy Johnson and husband Kurt of Gorham, NH; 3 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; his brother Robert Tennis of Center Point, TX. He was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Tennis.

Per James’s request, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be held privately at the Willis Cemetery in Dummer, NH. The Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association. Online guestbook at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
