Mr. James Fred "Chuck" Thomas, age 69, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 12:04 pm at his residence.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be held on the same day, Tuesday, July 29th at 2:00 PM with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
Chuck was born on July 9, 1956 in Franklin, KY. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Henry Whitaker and Jennette (West) Whitaker.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary (Crose) Thomas; two children, James Russell Thomas of Franklin, KY and Lisa Ann Ryan (Chris) of Franklin, KY; two step-children, Matthew Daniel Hitch of New York and Cindy Lou Reecer of Michigantown, IN; two grandchildren, Katie and James Henry; two step-grandchildren, Keatz and Jakiah; five brothers, Michael Earl Whitaker of Franklin, KY, Ronald Davis Whitaker of Westmoreland, TN, Pete Whitaker of Allen County, KY, Steven Wayne Whitaker of Tucson, AZ and Robert Whitaker of Franklin, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Chuck was retired and had previously worked at Brown Printing and New Mather Metals. He enjoyed going to Beech Bend to the races and collecting model car kits.
