Mr. James Robert Thompson

Mr. James Robert Thompson, age 81, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his residence.
Mr. Thompson was born September 24, 1942, in Summerville, GA, son of the late James Vaughn Thompson and Annie Lou Burton Thompson. He was a member of the West Fifth Street Church of Christ, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Dalton Paving and Construction.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Emma Burse and Hattie Mostiller; and a brother, Joe Thompson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Valerie Bankston Thompson; daughters, Hattie Williams, Erika Bankston, and Carolyn Williams; a son, James Williams; a sister, Ivy Nell Haynes; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 21, 2024, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. John Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.
