THOMPSON – James "Mitchell" Thompson, of Dacula, GA, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home Lawrenceville, GA, with Reverend Frankie Green officiating. The family will receive friends and family an hour prior to service for visitation at the Lawrenceville Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Mitch was born to Wilma (Howard) and Ernest Thompson on March 25, 1948, in Noxubee County, Mississippi. He graduated from Noxubee High School in 1966. He served in the US Army from 1968 until 1974. After his honorable discharge, he went to work for Citgo Petroleum and retired from there. He worked as a low voltage contractor and started his own company, Telephone and TV wiring. Later he became a building supervisor, constructing new homes in the Metro Atlanta area. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Hudak) Thompson, children Joi Petty (Daniel), Jamie (Rita), and Edward (Jessica). He leaves behind beloved grandchildren Noelle; Isabelle; Chloe; Palmer; Emmett; Avery; Mia and grandchild due in the spring of 2026. He was preceded in death by his daughter Heather, parents, and brother Howard (Sandra). He passed on his passion for baseball, softball and fishing to his children and grandchildren.
