James Leroy Turner

James Leroy Turner, age 81, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 6, 2025. James was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church. He retired from the City of Knoxville after many years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Ida Turner; his first and second wives, Mary Ruth Turner and Barbara Thomas Turner; and his brothers and sisters, including his beloved sister, Mary Walton. James is survived by several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to UT Hospice for their compassionate care. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 12:45 PM for a 1:00 PM graveside service, officiated by Eddie Smartt and Pete Ogle.
