James Floyd Turpin, 56, of Old Fort, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
He was born in Pico Rivera, California on December 24, 1968 to Mary Helen Gibson Effler and the late James Brovell Turpin.
James dedicated a significant part of his life to his career at UPS before retiring. He was not only defined by his professional accomplishments but also by his vibrant personality. He possessed a great sense of humor that could light up a room and bring joy to those around him.
An avid lover of the outdoors, James cherished his time spent on Lake James, where he enjoyed boating. He found happiness in the simple pleasures of nature and the excitement of life, including fast cars.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa Houck Turpin, and his daughter, Julie Turpin.
In addition to his mother, Mary Effler, he is survived by his sister, Karen Burrell (David), and his brother, Bill Effler (Sarah).
In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned.
