James Arthur Walker, 83, of Green Lake, WI, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy built with his own hands and carried in the hearts of those who loved him. Jim’s family was his greatest joy. As a talented craftsman, he poured his love into the spaces he created for them and the memories they built together. Jim had the tools and expertise to invent anything to fix a problem. His skill was matched only by the pride he took in creating homes, buildings and heirlooms that would last.
Born in Ripon, Wisconsin, on December 29, 1942, Jim spent his entire life on the shores of Big Green Lake. He felt most at home outdoors — whether deer hunting near Silver Creek, casting a line into Big Green Lake in search of white bass and that trophy lake trout, or simply breathing in the stillness of the woods. Nature was his refuge, his inspiration, and often his favorite place to share a laugh.
Jim’s happiest moments were often spent outdoors, whether watching the birds that visited his yard or tending the garden he cared for so deeply. A true renaissance man, he had many talents and interests. Jim had the tools and expertise to invent anything to fix a problem. He was an aviation enthusiast, a photographer with an eye for beautiful details, was fascinated by technology, and a lover of music. A gifted storyteller, Jim shared his tales with an ever present sense of humor that brightened every room.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Pamela Walker; children, Heidi (Martin) Lindsay, Arlington Heights, IL, Kerry Jordan (Rick Artybridge), Pensacola, FL, and Jennifer (John) Schafer, Neenah, WI; grandchildren, Caroline (Nicholas) Petrakis, Jack Lindsay and William Lindsay; great-grandson, Ryder Petrakis; brothers, Dennis (the late Dusty) Walker and John (Peggy) Walker; and other family and friends who meant so much to Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond E. and Helen L. Walker.
A visitation honoring Jim will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr, Ripon, WI, 54971. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life lived with intention, creativity, and heart.
He will be remembered for his hands that built, his humor that lifted spirits, and the quiet, enduring beauty he brought into the world.
The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Ford and the ER staff at Berlin Hospital for their dedication, and thoughtful care. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to the 7th floor doctors and nurses at Thedacare Regional Medical Center for their excellent care, compassion, dignity and many kindnesses shown to Jim and his family during this difficult time.
