James Walker Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 17, 2026.
James "Jim" Graham Walker, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at the age of 69.

Jim was born on December 17, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and from the very beginning, he had a way of bringing light and laughter into the lives of those around him. He wasn't just known for his humor and wisdom-it was the way he made people feel seen, encouraged, and truly cared for that made him unforgettable.

To his family, Jim was everything. A devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply loving grandfather, he showed up every day with love, patience, and a steady presence that made life feel a little safer and a lot more joyful. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dena; his daughters, Jamian, Danielle, and Chase (Logan), who were his pride and joy; and his grandchildren, Joey, Violet and Alli, who brought him endless happiness. He also leaves behind siblings and sister-in-law, Dusti, who loved him dearly.

Jim had a gift-not just professionally, but in the way he saw people. As a gymnastics consultant, he had an incredible ability to recognize potential and bring out the best in others. He believed in people, sometimes before they believed in themselves, and that left a lasting impact on countless athletes and coaches. But to those who knew him best, his greatest accomplishments weren't titles-they were the lives he helped shape and the confidence he inspired.

Outside of work, Jim found joy in life's simple, meaningful moments. Whether he was cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, playing a quiet game of solitaire, or breaking into an impromptu karaoke performance, he had a way of making ordinary moments feel special. Music, movies, laughter-these were the things that filled his heart and, in turn, filled the hearts of those around him.

Jim will be remembered most for his humor-his famous "Jim-isms," his quick wit, and his ability to make anyone laugh, no matter the situation. He had a way of lifting spirits, of turning a hard day around with just a few words or a well-timed joke. Being around him meant feeling lighter, happier, and more at ease.

Though our hearts are heavy, we hold onto the countless memories he gave us-the laughter, the lessons, the love. Jim's presence was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt. But his spirit lives on in the stories we share, the values he instilled, and the love that will continue to carry us forward.

He will be missed beyond words and loved always.
