James Edward Waller, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2025.
James (Jim) was born January 3, 1935 to Clarence and Dorothea Waller in Grenola, Ks. He grew up on the family farm in Chautauqua County and graduated from Cedar Vale High School. He met his future wife, Elnora, at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield, Ks. on the night of the Udall tornado, May 25, 1955. They were married in the Tisdale Methodist Church on December 4, 1955. This year would have been their 70thanniversary. Jim completed nursing training in September 1955 and joined the Air Force where he served from August 1956 until he was honorably discharged with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on August 2, 1958. After his service he completed training to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. He worked in that role until his retirement in 1998.
Jim remained active all his life. He enjoyed camping, walking, and visiting with everyone. He was an active participant in a large group that meets at McDonalds regularly for coffee and fellowship. He has been active in his church and worked as a scout leader and youth group leader when he was younger. Jim was always quick with a story or a joke and made time for folks to visit. Lately he really enjoyed Wii bowling and playing Bingo.
Jim is survived by Kendall Waller (Gale), Greg Waller (Linda), Amber Clay (Larry), and Aaron Waller (Lisa), 8 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Jim was very popular and will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Presbyterian Manor at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Burial with graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM that afternoon at Tisdale cemetery in Cowley County, KS.
