James Waybright Obituary
Jim was born on May 21, 1935 in Washington, DC to Myrtle Ella (Williamson) and James Robert Waybright, Sr.
Jim was a Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police Department, retiring after 27 years as a lieutenant detective. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police "FOP". He was a dedicated member of Hughesville Baptist Church, where he did mission work with the Nail Benders, and volunteered his time at the church food pantry. He enjoyed woodworking; he would imagine projects in his mind and make them a reality. He loved to travel, especially going on cruises. His greatest love was his family, he took great joy in being able to make his grandchildren breakfast each day before school after he retired, a tradition his wife Barbara had started.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Ella (Williamson) Smith; father, James Robert Waybright, Sr.; wives; Barbara Jean (Rice) Waybright, and Patricia "Pat" Marie (Hampson) Beardon Waybright; son, Ronald Lee Waybright; brother, Joseph Waybright; and sisters; Betty Korn, and June Gramont.
Jim is survived by his children; James "Bob" Waybright and his wife Linda Waybright, Donna Crown and her husband Dennis Crown, and Janet Mertz and her husband John Mertz; grandchildren; Jennifer Waybright, Jason Wood, Heather Burton, Corey Waybright, and Seth Lewis; and great-grandchildren; Nevaeh Burton, Delilah Burton, Gavin Wood, Liam Wood, Kaelyn Wood, Braden Waybright, Paisley Waybright, and Kinsley Waybright.
