James Edward Welsh, age 73 of Long Beach, MS, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
He was a native of Larimer, PA and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served from February 1966 until July 1969 and earned two Purple Hearts and Bronze Star.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Louise (Trump) Welsh and George W. Welsh, Sr.; his sister, Bonita Dahm; and his brother, George W. Welsh, Jr.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 10 years, Katherine Welsh; his children, James "Ed" Welsh (Amy) and Peter Welsh; his siblings, Bill Welsh (Michele), Mary Lou Berry (David), and Karen Welsh; his grandchildren, CeNedra Welsh and Olivia Welsh; his wife, Katherine's children, John, Jamie, and Donny, Jr.; her grandchildren, Jimmy, Nicholas, and Thomas; and her great grandchild, James III.
He was a Proud Marine and Vietnam Vet. After his enlistment, James attended Nashville Auto Diesel College and retired as a mechanic. He was an avid reader, liked Westerns, and loved traveling, especially in the west.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in memory of James to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org), or First United Methodist Church, 208 Pine St., Long Beach, MS 39560.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Long Beach, MS, April 16, 2022, at 2:00 PM. To honor James' memory, please dress casually. If weather is permitting, the service will be held outdoors.
