James J. Wenzel, 95, Jamestown, ND died Friday October 25, 2024, in Eventide @ Hi-Acres.
James was born on February 5, 1929, in Hutchinson, MN, the son of Michael and Lydia (Nelson) Wenzel. At an early age he moved with his parents to Eldridge, ND where he attended the local rural school and received his elementary education.
James entered the US Army, March 17, 1951, at Fargo, ND. He served in the BTRY D 768th and was honorably discharged March 16, 1953, with the rank of PFC.
James and Dolores Tipps were married June 1, 1954, at Jamestown. They made their home on a farm near Eldridge until moving to Jamestown. He managed the hog farm at the ND State Hospital. In 1968, he started full time at Glinz Farms as Foremen. He retired after more than 40 years. Following the death of his wife June 5, 2011, he continued to live in Jamestown.
James was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his children, James Jr. (Pam) Wenzel and Vicki (Dean) Ulmer, all of Jamestown, ND; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Strankowski, Fargo, ND, Abby (Jake) Olson, West Fargo, ND, Brian (Meghan) Wenzel, Jamestown, ND; 2 great grandchildren, Ian Strankowski, Fargo, and Manning Olson, West Fargo; 1 sister, Martha Jeske, Forman, ND.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and brother, Michael Jr. in 1978.
