Jim was kind, even-tempered, witty, smart and sensitive to others´ needs. He had to help "downsize" Digital Research when we worked there. This meant flying to various locations in the country and laying people off. He decided the most economical way to do this was not to get a hotel room and visit the field office, but to ask the employee to meet him
at the airport. He treated them with dignity, trusting they wouldn´t trash the office, steal from the company, or do anything unprofessional. And nobody did. They respected him and by the end of his decidedly difficult task, the phrase "meet me at the airport" became code for "layoff." Jim had to take on a lot more territory snd a lot more work after the layoffs and build the morale of the remaining employees. And he did so. There are only a very few people I´ve worked with over 35 years of working that I even remember. And none with more respect than Jim. His values are surely needed in 2022. May he Rest In Peace and continue to inspire his loved ones.

Always cheerfully remembered by his friends from work; Jim was kind to everyone in the office, funny, smart and humble. Comforting thoughts and prayers to his family.

To Jim's Family: Several other former Digital Research employees asked me to send our sympathy to you on Jim's passing. When you have his memorial, please share that he is remembered as a smart, kind, laid back and fun person. Jim treated everyone at Monterey headquarters and in his Boston office with respect, and that's why we remember him 30-some years later. Lita, Bill, Bruce and I send our kind thoughts to you all.

From all your friends at Digital Research who enjoyed knowing you. Even as the company cut back, you managed to keep the East Coast Operations in good spirits! Rest In Peace, Jim

Jim made it easy to evolve beyond a business relationship to become a close friend. He will be missed by so many of those who knew him well.

Dad, I miss you so much. I just can't believe you are gone. You were my anchor. I wish for one more hug. I Love You So Much. Please watch over Izlynn as she goes through life. She is amazing just like her Grandpa. I hope to make you proud. Enjoy a round of golf and some fishing with Grandpa. Until we meet again. I Love You ~ Laurel

I was saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I worked, played, and partied with Jim while we were employed with Xerox in Detroit. Jim was a great and fun guy to be around. He always had a positive attitude. Please accept our condolences.
