James Leon Wilburn

On February 2, 1951, in Houston, Texas, a baby boy was born to the proud parents of Adolph Sr. and Willie B. Wilburn. They named him James Leon Wilburn.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Allen Cain. Later, he began to fellowship at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
James (Jimmy) received his education at Bethune Elementary, Charles R. Drew Junior High School, and George Washington Carver High School. James worked for Metrolift for many years as a driver. He was a very dedicated and committed worker.
In 1972, he was united in matrimony to Amelie R. Jolivette and then divorced. To this union, they had Sylvia M. Wilburn. In 1987, he was united in matrimony to Iris Gonzales and then divorced. To this union, they had Denise Wilburn and Felipe Silva Jr. and Miki Gonzales.
On May 16, 2024, James Leon Wilburn, transitioned from this life and gained his wings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph Wilburn, Sr., and Willie B. Perry and stepfather, Clarence Perry and brother Adolph Wilburn Jr. and sister Gloria Pittman.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Stepmother Clara Wilburn, siblings Larry Wilburn (Rita), Carolyn Amos (Edgar) Garland Wilburn (Cynthia), Nathan Johnson and Jimmy Wilburn and sister-in-law Varie Wilburn; children Sylvia Fanniel (Prettice), Felipe Silva Jr., Miki Gonzales Flores (Robert /deceased), Denise Fuller (Erik); grandchildren Jair Fanniel, Jadon Fanniel, Jade Fanniel, Arthur Silva, Iris Silva, Ethan Silva, Sophia Silva, Carlos Silva, Bianca Gutierrez, Frank Gutierrez III (Alyssa), Alexis Jackson, Dion Jackson, Jordan Jackson; great grandchildren Robert Smith, Kyra Gutierrez, Frank Gutierrez IV, Sebastian Gutierrez, Kartier Love, Dior Jackson; aunts Emma Jean Freeman and Rosie Marie Rice; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
