I met Jim through our BARF runs, and I truly cherished the time we spent together on the trails.
One of my fondest memories is his iconic 17-Mile Drive run. I´ll never forget taking the bus to Carmel and running along the coast to Monterey, followed by a great meal and a beer. Jim had such a smooth running style and a gentle spirit that made every mile more enjoyable.
He was a kind, steady presence in our running community, and he will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Jim.

Jim was an absolute gem. I got to know Jim through ultrarunning and have very fond memories of him - whether they be in training runs or whether he was at an aid station. I recall one training run running on Mt Diablo when the rain was coming at us sideways, drenched and then slipping and sliding all the way up and down as i trained for Western States. He was a real trooper

Jim (aka Coach) was a great running buddy and mentor when I was starting to to train for ultras. I got to hear a lot about his heart problems, which was helpful when I later experienced heart issues of my own. He kept on going and doing the things he loved - as long as he could. You will be very missed, Coach.

Jim was a very good man, and I considered him a great friend. I did the 50 mile run on Mt. Diablo which he organized several times. Please to his family accept my sincere condolences. I am sure he left many great memories and will be deeply missed.

I have many fond memories of Jim over the years as we ran countless miles together on the trails of the Sierra Nevada and the Bay Area. It's hard to believe he's gone. He will truly be missed.

Dear Sandy,
Jim was a great running companion. We spent many hours together on the trail and in the car commuting to trailheads at some of the most beautiful places imaginable. I thought of him like a big brother. I wish we could head to the city and see one more band. I will forever remember Jim.
