James Winter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marnocha Funeral Home on Mar. 20, 2026.
James D. Winter, 90, of Pulaski, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 3, 1936, in Mountain, Wisconsin, to Paulus and Marcella (Bohm) Winter.

Jim graduated from Pulaski High School. On March 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Janice Schumacher. He worked for Northwest Engineering in Green Bay for over 20 years. On weekends, he also delivered milk alongside his father.

Jim was instrumental in forming the High Noon Riders Snowmobile Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball and even had the opportunity to try out for the Milwaukee Braves. He cherished time spent up north at the family cabin on Chute Pond. Jim also loved playing cards-especially Skit Skat and Kings Corner-and was known as a great storyteller who truly enjoyed the company of others.

He is survived by his eight children: LeeAnn (Dennis) Przybylski, Linda (Douglas) Prentice, Laurie (Dan) Zierden, Jim Jr. (Michelle) Winter, Timothy Winter, Terrance (Connie) Winter, Kevin (fiancée Tracy) Winter, and Daniel (June) Winter. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Brent Nowak; Eric (Felicia) Przybylski; Amanda (fiancé Corey) Przybylski; Alicia Ericson; Douglas (Theresa) Prentice; Lucas (Jessica) Prentice; Nicole (Grant) Bystol; Jason "Buddy" (Caleena) Prokash; Nathan (Abigail) Winter; Melissa Winter; Erica (Bradley) Naparalla; Kandra Winter; Jeremy Winter; Gerald Winter; Mariah (Evan) Peterson; Heaven (Hunter) Winter; Brittney (Wesley) Winter; and Dalton Winter; 23 great-grandchildren. Jim is further survived by three brothers: Dennis (Sharon) Winter, Don (Peggy) Winter, and Mark (Annette) Winter; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice; his parents; a brother, Ken (Bonnie) Winter; and a sister-in-law, Donna (Dale) VanRossum.

Family and friends may gather at Peace Lutheran Church, 1954 County Road U, Green Bay (Kunesh), on Friday, March 27, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Stuart Dornfeld officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Howard Cemetery in Green Bay.

The family respectfully requests that no flowers be sent.

Jim's family extends a heartfelt thank you to the home healthcare workers-especially nurse Ashley-for the exceptional care and compassion shown to him.
