James Wise, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather, peacefully departed this life on December 29, 2025, in Mabelvale, Arkansas, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories.
Born on August 9, 1935, in North Little Rock, James was a man of deep conviction and quiet strength. He dedicated 36 years of his life to Harvest Foods Warehouse before retiring, a testament to his unwavering work ethic and commitment. His time outside of work was spent nurturing his passions, whether it was fishing, working in his yard, or enjoying the thrilling games of Yahtzee, Aggravation, and Skipbo with his children and grandchildren—a time when he always emerged victorious.
A proud member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, James embraced his faith with fervor. He shared Biblical wisdom and guidance with all who crossed his path. His love for God and Gospel music often filled his home, as he could be heard walking about, humming and singing uplifting hymns, bringing comfort and joy to his loved ones.
James was a nurturing soul who treasured time spent with his family. He delighted in playing catch with his children and grandchildren, creating countless joyful memories, all while imparting solid Biblical advice, regardless of whether it was sought. His deep love for the Lord and his family was evident in every interaction, reminding those around him of the importance of compassion, humility, and integrity.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda Wise; his children, Robert Hudson, Linda Alkire, and Karen Owenson; his brother, Charles Wise; as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The warmth of his spirit will continue to thrive in the hearts of Nathaniel Alkire, Alexis Slayton, Cody Owenson, Chris Hudson, Candice Hudson, Tyler Hudson, Charity Hudson, Nickolas Hudson, Sierra Reyes, Trinity Alkire, Jocelyn Alkire, Ethan Hudson, Joseph Gracie, Alyssa Gracie, Spencer Reynolds, Hayley Hudson, Aleena Cordova, Evelyn Cordova, Emillee Hudson, Jacob Hudson, Jordan Hudson, Isaac Reyes, and Zoey Reyes.
James joins his cherished parents, Robert and Marie Wise, and his beloved sisters Esther Francis and Ila-Mae Hall, in eternal rest.
Visitation services for James will be held on January 2, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Little Rock, Arkansas. His life was a profound light, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of loving him. May his legacy of faith and family continue to inspire those he touched.
