James Wren Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 5, 2025.
James Elgin Wren Jr., 68, of Hernando, Florida, went to rest in heaven on September 26, 2025 following a

brief illness. He was born in Platte City, Missouri to James Wren Sr. and Elnora Wren on March 28, 1957.

After attending Platte City High School, Jim went on to earn a degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri. He built a distinguished career in the nuclear power industry, dedicating over 35 years to a field he approached with commitment, integrity, and expertise. Jim's family will remember him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished time with his family and loved nothing more than being surrounded by those he cared for. Whether playing golf, traveling the world, sharing new experiences with friends, or enjoying a good card game, Jim embraced life with warmth, curiosity, and a generous spirit. His wry sense of humor and quick wit were familiar to all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife and devoted companion, Denise Taylor; his children, Megan (Jeff) Chalifoux and Jim (Valerie) Wren; and his three treasured grandchildren (Celine, Dash and Merritt), who brought him immense joy and pride. He was preceded in death by his first wife and high school sweetheart, Frances Wren. Jim will be remembered for his unwavering faith, quiet strength, immensely kind heart, and the deep love he so willingly gave to his family and friends. He lived his life with a keen appreciation for moments of grace and gratitude. A graveside service will be held at 2pm, November 8, 2025, in Platte City, Missouri, to honor and celebrate Jim's remarkable life.

Yesterday

Jim was the most fun loving and good friend one could be lucky enough to have known. Jim always shared his Las Vegas comps with his traveling companions whether it was free George Strait tickets, front row seats for the Super Bowl at Caesars Sports Book, tickets to Andrea Bocelli or Penn and Teller while sharing free meals at high end restaurants in Vegas and New Orleans or providing multiple free suites (one trip we had 4 at different casinos in Las Vegas), he was the purveyor of good times and many fond memories.

Thank you Jim.
