James Odell Wright
1939 - 2023
James Odell Wright, beloved uncle, brother, and friend, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2023 with his loving niece and nephew, Kimberly Hodge and Klinton Wright, by his side. He was born on December 15, 1939 in Waco, Texas to Monte Ben Wright and Nina Bell Ferqueron.
Growing up, he took pride in raising his brothers and sisters that were younger than him and continued to do so throughout his last days. Buck treated every person he met as if they were an old friend that he had known for years. He had a giving heart and would give his last dollar to anyone in need without hesitation. Buck quickly became everyone's "Uncle Buck" whether you were family or not. Doctors, nurses, and the mail carriers always bragged about him being their favorite person to see, as his quick whit and charismatic self continuously brought a smile to their face. Buck always had a joke or story to share with anyone willing to take the time to listen.
He was the king of Dominoes and master of Wahoo! Buck spent a lot of his free time watching old westerns and sitting on the porch waiting for "his guys" to come home from school so he could be the first to give them a big hug. He cherished the time he spent with his family and said he didn't require anything besides the love of his "little guys." Uncle Buck will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
Buck has been reunited with his parents and siblings, Ethel Bewley Wright, Lillie Mae Childers, Archie Glen Wright, Vada Corine Rostad, Robert Tottie Wright and Ronnie Ray Wright, in God's Eternal Kingdom.
He will be deeply and lovingly remembered by his siblings, Kenneth Wayne Wright and wife, Kathy, Irene Castillo, Linda Belgum, and Bonnie Schnider and husband, Herb; his angels; his guys; several nieces and nephews, and a host of great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Azleland Cemetery & Memorial Park beginning at 2:00 PM.
