Funeral Services for James "JJ" Wright Jr, age 86, of Enid, formerly of Columbus, Georgia, is 10:00am, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Bible Baptist Church, with Reverend Terry Chick officiating. Burial with follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the United States Air Force Honor Guard providing full military honors. Service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
James "Jim" was born on September 10, 1939, in Columbus, Georgia to James Wright Sr., and Ruth (Calhoun) Wright, and passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 10, 1939, in Columbus, Georgia, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, just ten days before his seventeenth birthday, beginning a proud twenty-three-year career marked by integrity and dedication. He retired in 1979 and went on to work for Northrop Grumman until his retirement in 2011, known for his precision and strong work ethic.
On January 3, 1959, Jim married the love of his life, Alice Mattie McGinnis, and together they shared over 66 years of love, laughter, and family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jim led by example, teaching his children the values of honesty, perseverance, and compassion.
Jim is survived by his wife, Alice; three children, James Alan, Leslie Eugene, and Gary Evan; as well as 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and daughter Debra Lyn.
Jim will be remembered for his humility, gentle wisdom, and steadfast love. His family takes comfort knowing he is now "flying high" once again, watching over them with pride and peace.
