James (Jim) Haynie Wright was born on November 27, 1942, in Canadian, Texas, to Dave and Faye Wright. He was raised with strong family values and a faith that guided him throughout his life. A proud veteran, Jim honorably served his country in the U.S. Army's Second Armored Division.
Jim's lifelong commitment to family, hard work, and community was evident through his career as the owner and operator of Jim Wright Construction for more than 60 years. His craftsmanship resulted in hundreds of steel buildings across the region - but even more lasting were the friendships and trust he built along the way. Whether he was on a job site, sitting at the local cafe, or trading pocket knives, Jim valued conversation and the time spent with others.
Known for his strength, humor, wisdom, and generosity, Jim made everyone feel welcome. If you spent any time with him, you were "Pard" to him. Whether offering advice, lending a hand, or sharing a laugh, he left behind a legacy of kindness and connection that will be remembered for generations.
He loved the outdoors, whether it was tackling a new project in his shop, running his bass boat on the lake, or spending the day surrounded by loved ones. Always ready with a camera, he never missed a chance to snap a picture and loved sharing the ones he thought were funny. He was a self-proclaimed spokesperson for Ford, Copenhagen, Yamaha, and Bullet Bass Boats. Jim brought humor and heart to everything he did.
Above all, Jim found his greatest joy in his family - especially his grandchildren and all the "punkins" who filled his life with love and laughter.
Jim was called to his eternal home on November 5, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Faye Wright.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Beta Wright; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lonni Wright; his daughters and sons-in-law, DeeDee and Mike Lunt, and Denae and Joel Sullins.
Jim's grandchildren - Denton Wright and wife Tracy, Lain Wright and wife Kandace, Kaitlin Lunt, Savannah Groff and husband Michael, Jarrett Sullins and wife Laci - along with his great-grandchildren, Wyley and Wrenley Wright and Gracie Groff.
His brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Tommye Wright, his sister, Paula Haley and his extended family, including his nieces, nephews, and their children, all held a special place in his heart. Kristin Haley, David Haley, Jasen Wright and Jennifer Wright; children Lexye and Kinlye; Steven Wright and Bayly Wright; children Nolan, Olivia, and Max. Brian Wright and Rian Crager.
