James Gregory Young passed away on Friday June 28, 2024. He was born November 19, 1970 to Mary (Benoit) and Gregory Young in Burlington, Vermont. Jamie spent most of his childhood in Colchester. Jamie had a love for hockey and played since the age of five in the Essex youth league, until high school when he played for the Colchester Lakers. After high school, he worked in the trades and became an accomplished carpenter following in his father's footsteps. Jamie loved hunting and fishing and often reminisced about his time on the ocean in Florida.
Anyone who met Jamie knew he was a people person. He was a social butterfly who could talk with anyone and make you feel comfortable and invited in any situation. He would often start with a jab or a joke, but always with a twinkle in his eye and a bright smile. He enjoyed helping people whenever he could. He had a big heart that not only extended to family and friends but animals as well. Most recently, he loved Olive, his cat. He had many friends that helped him through his struggles in life and he was grateful for their love and support.
Jamie leaves behind his mother, Mary Root and stepfather Lynn Root. His siblings: Rachael Parker and husband Robert Parker, Ryan Young and partner Tori Swenson, Samantha Bratcher and husband Tray Bratcher, Jimmy Benoit, Sara Frail and husband John Frail, Andrea Mulligan and husband Kevin Mulligan, and Chuck Root. His nephews: Jackson Parker, Asher Young, Lincoln Bratcher and his niece and godchild Mae Parker. Jamie was predeceased by his father Gregory Young and his brother Scott Benoit. We are planning a celebration of his life on Saturday July 27,2024 at the American Legion Post 91 in Colchester from 11- 3. Please bring your favorite memories and stories of Jamie to share.
