Jammie Fields Obituary
Dr. Pastor Jammie L. Fields, 79, of Elkhart, passed away at home on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
She was born on November 20, 1944, in Trenton, TN to the late James and Edith Louise (Edwards) Swift. She was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Fields and a grandson.
Jammie married Rev. Oliver S. Fields Sr. on June 17, 1962. He died June 17, 2015. She is survived by three daughters: Bunita Fields and Sylvia Fields, both of Elkhart and Yameka Fields of Goshen; two sons, Oliver S. Fields Jr. and Titus Fields Sr., both of Elkhart; seventeen grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren and one brother, Edward Swift of Dyer, TN. Also surviving are special cousins Billie, Mary, Alma, Katie and Marilyn as well as her best friend, Donna Ussery and Dr. Buffy Nemeth.
Jammie had been employed by Federal Paperboard for over twenty years. She then went to work for the Council on Aging where she worked for another ten years. In addition to her work, her passion was being a full-time pastor at Breath of Life Ministries. She enjoyed reading and studying her bible, watching old Westerns and spending time in Florida at the Orange Lake Resort.
Visitation for Jammie will be held from 12 noon Tuesday, July 16, 2024, until the hour of the service at 1:00 pm at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 West Franklin Street, in Elkhart. The Rev. George Bostic Jr. will officiate and Jammie will be laid to rest next to Oliver in Prairie Street Cemetery. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
