PLEASE NOTE THAT THE VISITATION IS IN WOODBINE AND THE FUNERAL IS IN DUNLAP. Janice Elaine (Crosby) Hinze was born August 16, 1941, to Edward and Audrey (Smith) Crosby in Spalding, Nebraska. She was raised in Spalding and graduated from Spalding High School. Jan married Jack Hinze November 19, 1960, in Spalding, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with six children. The couple lived in Spalding for a short time before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska when Jack was in school, then they moved to West Memphis, Arkansas, Gretna, Nebraska, and in 1978 the family settled in Woodbine, Iowa. Jan asked Jesus into her heart on May 31, 1970. Jan's faith has carried her through life's ups and downs. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Dunlap, Iowa. Jan loved her family and spending time with them. She had a caregiver's heart. She also loved children and animals. Jan died Sunday, October 17, 2010, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa at the age of 69 years, two months, and one day. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ron Crosby; and infant sister, Patsy Crosby. She is survived by her six children, Jackie Hinze of Moorhead, Iowa, Shane and Cherie Hinze of Omaha, Nebraska, Chad and Becky Hinze of Runnells, Iowa, Josh and Daleanne Hinze of Pisgah, Iowa, Amber and Scott Nelson of Woodbine, Iowa, Jason and Courtney Hinze of Omaha, Nebraska; 20 grand-children; six great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Scott of Osceola, Nebraska; the children's father, Jack Hinze of Patagonia, Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
