Jan Schwartz- "Russ" Jones

Jan "Russ" Schwartz-Jones, age 73 of Winchester, TN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Highpoint Health Winchester. Jan was born on April 25, 1952, in Winchester, to the late George Anthony and Vergie L. (Cates) Schwartz Sr. Jan was a 1970 class graduate of Franklin County High School. Shortly after graduation she started her working career at Tennessee Apparel and later retired after twenty-five years at Carrier. She attended Harris Chapel United Methodist Church when she was able. Jan was an outstanding cook and always looked forward to cooking Thanksgiving dressing for the church outreach program each year. God gifted her with a passion for helping others, whether it was preparing a meal, driving a person to a doctor's appointment or the grocery store. Her passion for others also included her four-legged friends and the birds, from making sure they were fed and even trips to the vet when needed. She enjoyed spending time in Gatlinburg with her family and always requested the room closest to the creek so she could hear the running water from nature's beauty. In her spare time, Jan enjoyed working in her flower garden, watching Wheel of Fortune and America's Funniest Videos. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David K. Jones. Jan is survived by her siblings, Jane Schwartz, George A. (Patti) Schwartz Jr., Joy (Chuck) Ealy, and Joanie (Darrell) Day; nieces, Erin (Adam) Johnson and Leanne (Wes) Nelson; great-niece, Anna Lee Nelson; great-nephews, Garrett Nelson and Alan Johnson; aunt, Ruby Perry; and many cousins. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 12:00pm – 2:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with funeral service following at 2:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Day and Rev. Philip McAbee. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
