Jan Denise (Wengert) McWilliams, 68, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 24, 1957, in Rockford, Illinois, Jan was the daughter of Dennis and Julie (Raider) Wengert. She married the love of her life, Wayne, on April 2, 2003, in Las Vegas, and together they shared 22 wonderful years of marriage.
Jan dedicated many years of her career to working at the Post Office, where she was known for her strong work ethic and vibrant personality. She lived life with an extraordinary zest and was the embodiment of fun—always thriving on good times, especially when they included a cocktail, laughter, and the people she loved most. Jan was well known for her lively sense of humor and her infectious laugh.
She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren, cherishing every giggle, game, and moment together. Vacations were a highlight of her life, particularly sunny winters spent in Florida, with Wayne. After retiring, Jan learned to play golf and enjoyed the game whenever she could. Gardening was another passion that brought her peace and happiness.
Jan is survived by her loving husband, Wayne McWilliams; her children, Joe (Kayla) Wengert and Kealy McWilliams; her grandchildren, Alyssa McWilliams, Bella Riggins, Oliver Wengert, Violet Wengert, Oscar Wengert, and Twyla Wengert; and her siblings, Jodi (Gary) Valenziano and Bill Wengert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julie and Dennis Wengert, and her brother, Jeff Wengert.
