Jana Thackrey

Jana Thackrey, age 59, of Normal, Illinois died peacefully Thursday, September 11, 2025, surrounded by family & friends following a lengthy battle with colon cancer. She was born on February 22, 1966 in Oxford, Ohio the daughter of James & Judith (Cornelius) Thackrey, and raised in Liberty, Indiana.

She was a 1984 graduate of Union County High School in Liberty, Indiana. Jana went on to attend Ball State University where she majored in Management Information Systems and Computer Programming. She was hired by State Farm Insurance where she spent the next 30 years in both Bloomington, Illinois and Standish, Maine, where she moved in 2005 after getting married. Other jobs included Project Management at Cummins in Columbus, Indiana before moving to Normal, Illinois in 2021 to work for Country Financial.

Jana spent her free time raising her beloved children, Tony and Kaylee, and pursuing her passions of travel, baking, and adopting her much loved Dachshunds. She also loved to play Texas Hold'em while showing those cocky younger players how to win!

Family & friends will gather for a 1:00 P.M. graveside service, Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Sims Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Brookville, Indiana.
