Jane Batte Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 19, 2025.
I am sorry to say that Jane left us on July 29 after a valiant three-year struggle with an incurable cancer.

Jane lived an exemplary life that encompassed many different roles. She was an example of what a life partner and help mate should be to her husband, loving mother to her daughter, Leslie.

She was also a devout church woman, who was a lifelong member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, which later evolved into the United Church of Christ.

If anything, Jane had goals and always saw them through. As a young girl, family resources were tight, so she always had jobs to pay for the dresses that she made herself. During the college years, she paid her way entirely for the four years by working two jobs. She graduated from the UCC-related Elmhurst College and went on to teach middle school, sixth and seventh grades, for nearly forty years.

Jane was a two-term President of the Bloomingdale Women's Club and a Trustee of the Bloomingdale Public Library.

She was a member for more than twenty years of the church's Women's Fellowship Group and a member, again, for more than twenty years of the Pottawattamie Garden Club. Jane also loved to travel, especially in Europe.

On behalf of Jane and our family, we want to thank so many of you who provided endless support throughout this most trying time in our lives.

Above all, know that Jane loved you all.

Sincerely,

Wiliam Batte
