Obituary of Jane Brebner

Jane Brebner, 96, passed away on November 26, 2025 at the English Valley Care Center in North English, Iowa.

Jane was born January 15, 1929, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur (Hub) and Min Hurlburt. She attended and graduated from Clinton High School in 1947. She played the clarinet in the high school band. Jane had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir, at many weddings and funerals in the Clinton area.

Jane married Forrest "Bud" Brebner on September 24, 1950 and they were married 72 years when Bud passed away on April 15, 2023. He was the love of her life! They enjoyed boating and camping on the Mississippi river, mostly the section from Sabula, Iowa to Muscatine, Iowa, with their family. They loved fishing with friends from Iowa and Minnesota, bowling, playing cards, were active members of the Elks Club, and above all, loved spending time with their family.

Jane & Bud retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1998. They traveled in their motorhome exploring for a location they would like to settle and chose a house on Lake Ann, Bella Vista, Arkansas. They made wonderful new friends and continued fishing, golfing, bowling and playing cards. Jane was also a member of the "Red Hats" for several years.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son, Steve, her sister, Mary Ann Yahnke, daughter-in-law, Barb Brebner and her son-in-law, Todd Lavengood.

Jane is survived by her daughters, Debra (John) Routh, and Kristin Lavengood; four grandchildren, Ryan (Julie) Routh, Angela (Troy) Thompson, Andy (Ashley) Brebner and Betsy (Derek) Keibler; great grandchildren, Evan & Emily Routh, Ellie & Reese Thompson, Scarlett & Jackson Keibler, and Alex Brebner.

Jane will be cremated and a family inurnment will be in Iowa City at a future date, no public services will be held.
