LIMA -- Jane H. Brown, 87, of Lima passed away at 8:36 PM on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 8, 1938 in Findlay, OH to Charles and Cora (Grant) Hart, who both preceded her in death. On June 10, 1960, she married Lawrence A. Brown, who survives in Elida.
Jane graduated from Findlay College with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She spent many years teaching at Bluffton and Beaverdam schools. She later returned to teaching as a substitute at several area schools. After leaving teaching, she was a church secretary for many years and went on to further her education to become a full time pastor at Ridge United Methodist Church for over 15 years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Delphos and attended Elida Zion United Methodist Church. She was active in the church as a member of The Church Women United and The United Methodist Women's groups. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Christmas Tree Festival and was also a member of The Starlight Club. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and speaking all over about missions and had taken multiple mission trips herself.
Surviving are her four sons David (Lori) Brown of Columbus Grove, James (Tammy) Brown of Woodstock, OH, Matthew (Kim) Brown of Lima and William (Teresa) Brown of Bluffton; her eleven grandchildren Amy (Brian) Schroeder, Emma Brown, Caitlynn Brown, Alexandria Kornja, Sarah (Tyler) Claus, Leiah Brown, Seth (Amanda Parks) Ewing, Rachael (Jongbin) Kim, Mark (Faith Bagalso) Brown, Jonah Brown, and Lena Brown; her nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law Kay Crow and Norma Reynolds.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lauren Hart, and her sisters-in-law Patricia Thompson, Barbara Smith, Luella Musselman and Cynthia DeRossett.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Elida Zion United Methodist Church, 9290 Zion Church Road, Elida. The family will receive friends for 2 hours from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Thursday at the church.
Pastor Laura Ring will officiate.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery privately.
Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or The Starlight Club.
