Jane Cook Fox died peacefully on January 8, 2026, surrounded by family. She was 104 years old.
She was born Jane Iris Cook on August 26, 1921, to George & Ida Cook in
Mount Holly, NJ. Jane graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School in 1939. She worked as a secretary at Fort Dix in NJ. She met Dr. Owen K. Fox in 1945 and they married in 1946. They lived in
Mount Holly, NJ where they started their family with two daughters, Suzanne and Sally. They then moved to
Moorestown, NJ where Jane helped with Owen's private veterinary practice. She earned her small plane pilot license so she could co-pilot with Owen. In 1966 they moved to the Eastern Shore on Kennersley Farm in
Church Hill, MD. She worked at the United Fund in
Chestertown, MD where she was a secretary. She earned her real estate license and worked for an agency in
Sudlersville, MD. Later she also worked at a dental office in
Centreville, MD. She enjoyed living on the Chester River for 35 years before moving to Heron Point in
Chestertown, MD in 2002. For 24 years she enjoyed her new home, community and friends while staying busy with bird carving, joining the Welcome Committee, playing dominoes, serving on the Resident Council and writing several short stories for The Heron's Beak, just to name a few of her many activities.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Owen, her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne & Michael Starusser and her son-in-law Joseph M. Bucci.
She is survived by her daughter Sally Fox Bucci, who will cherish the memories of their times together traveling, celebrating and simply being together, just the two of them. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kimberly Lyons (Tom) and Steven Bucci (Cailin), her great grandchildren Eric, Courtney (Christian), Alec, Hannah and Owen and her five great-great-grandchildren … all of whom affectionately called her their "Ramie". In addition, she is survived by two nieces, a nephew and a cousin.
Jane's family extends their sincere gratitude to the Heron Point community, along with her friends, caregivers, and administrators, for the exceptional care and compassion shown to their beloved Jane. Special appreciation is extended to the OBT wing staff for the extraordinary care and kindness they provided to their cherished "Miss Foxy." Jane often expressed how grateful she was and how fortunate she felt to be part of the Heron Point community throughout the many years she spent there.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley Hall at Heron Point, 510 E. Campus Ave.,
Chestertown, MD 21620.
