Jane Gummert 70, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on the evening of December 4, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Services for Jane will be held on Thurday, December 8, 2022 beginning at 1:30 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Jane Wesley Gummert was born August 6, 1952 to parents John and Dorothy (Reaves) Gummert in Marshalltown. She attended school in Marshalltown where she grew up. Later in her life, Jane returned to school and received her CNA/CMA certification from Marshalltown Community College. She took her new learned nursing skills and worked for the Iowa Veteran's Home where she served numerous residents until her retirement in 2010.
Jane was active in her community. She was a member of the Moose Lodge of Marshalltown and the First United Church of Christ. She spent time volunteering her spare time at the church as well as serving many different events at the moose lodge. In her free time, she loved to spend time with her four-legged furry companions and in recent years Bella, staying active on the church council, going every week to get coffee with her cousin Shirley, watching her hallmark movies, game shows, and Christmas movies in July.
Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Jim (Tonja) Lutes and Joe (Malinda) Lutes; her great nieces and nephews Samantha (Dillon) Million, Mitchell (Melissa) Lutes, Jonathon (Shawna) Rizzo, and Ravyn Lutes; her cousin Shirley Gummert and other cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Gummert; her sisters Faye Lutes and a sister in infancy; and cousins Chuck, Donna, and Anita Gummert.
