Jane Harple Obituary

Jane P. Harple, 87, passed away peacefully at her residence in The Glen at Willow Valley, Lancaster, PA, on December 7, 2024.

Jane was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Mary Jane and Albert T. Phillips. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1956, earned her Registered Nursing degree from the Union Memorial Hospital (UMH) School of Nursing in 1959, and completed 30 business credits from the College of Notre Dame. Jane had a 12-year history as a nurse, working as a staff nurse at UMH and the Loch Raven Veteran’s Administration Hospital and then as head nurse on the OBGYN floor at UMH. Following her nursing career, Jane served 28 years as UMH’s Utilization Review and Infections Control Coordinator, as well as their Medical Review Department Manager, and Church Hospital’s Coordinator of Utilization Review and Hospital Quality Management.

Jane is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Richard (Dick); their two daughters Kathy Lococo (Wayne Curcie) of Quakertown, PA and Patricia Lafferty (Mike) of Glen Mills, PA; three grandchildren, Rachael Schaeffer (Mike), Cailyn Lafferty, and Charles Lafferty; and two great-grandchildren, Maverick and Carson. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Phillips.

Jane enjoyed international travel with her husband and friends, knitting, reading, their gourmet meal club, and sharing recipes and chatting with her friends on RecipeZaar.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm, at Willow Valley Communities Lakes Auditorium (300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA 17584). Placards with her name placed off of route 222/Beaver Valley Pike will direct the route through the Lakes Campus to the celebration.
